Keytesville is a small town located in central Missouri between Kansas City and St. Louis. This agricultural / farming community with its"small town friendliness" regards its people as its greatest strength. Keytesville has a "hometown" feel of safe, pleasant, friendly people and neighborhood schools.
Our community also has a rich history which could be called significant, notable and celebrated with many structures listed on the National Registry of Historic Places; home of General Sterling Price, a lawyer, planter, and politician from Missouri, who served as the 11th Governor of Missouri, United States Army brigadier general during the Mexican-American War, and a Confederate Army major general in the American Civil War; birthplace of General Maxwell Taylor, a U.S. army officer and diplomat, commanding general of UN forces in Korea (1953), U.S. Army chief of staff , and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff ), Ambassador to South Vietnam (1964 – 65) and special consultant to Pres. Lyndon B. Johnson; and Cal Hubbard, a professional American football player, an umpire in Major League Baseball, and is a member of three major sports halls of fame and currently the only person to be enshrined at both the Pro Football Hall of Fame and the Baseball Hall of Fame.
